Ever since I was a little girl, I've had this toy bunny who went everywhere with me. He's name's Oscar and he's travelled on planes and in camper vans, lived on my bed at home, in tents and hotels. His biggest trips were to The Netherlands and Indonesia, but this little guy has also travelled most of Australia.
The story is that as a little girl, I laid eyes on him and wouldn't let go. Given that mum and I were going through a pretty rough time, I was allowed to keep him. Apparently, getting me to let go would have been very difficult. Thankfully they didn't, because he's been a constant companion for as long as I can remember.
He's an intrepid traveller and I love him dearly. He slept with him as a child and even to this day he sits on my bed next to the pillows. He's so loved so much so that his ears were wearing and after discovering the existence of repair cafes, I went out and bought a fabulous new material and brought him in. It took most of an afternoon, but Oscar looks like a new bunny ready for another thirty years of love and adventure. His once golden ears are now a beautiful paisley green and he's got a bow once more (I lost the one that went with his ears years ago).
So thank you, to the Ringwood Repair Cafe for their hard work and dedication! Oscar and I much appreciate it! The hard work and dedication of your volunteers keeps tonnes of waste from landfill and returns much loved family treasures to new again. Oscar looks like a new rabbit!
